life update

Hi all! A quick fly-by to say hello and that I hope everyone is surviving the holiday stress :)

1. work, as is the case this time of year, is killing me. I literally have run out of brilliant euphemisms for "unique learning/cognitive profile." Suggestions welcome :)

2. Thanks to Hallie, I finished Breaking Dawn. I slowed on the last book because it felt really off-tempo to me. However, the last part was better and I was satisfied with the ending. I am still debating whether or not to read Midnight Sun.

3. Has anyone read the 'Outlander' series? A friend gave me the first three books in the series for my b-day.

4. I have caught a few movies late-night on HBO that I really enjoyed -- particularly The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Casey Affleck was really, really good.

5. I nearly stroked-out whilst watching 'Death at a Funeral.' Good lord, that was funny!

6. I have decided that whoever wrote the movie 'The Holiday' must be a close friend. I watched that one again recently and identified a little too much with the women in that movie, especially Cameron Diaz's inability to cry :P

7. I did see Twilight in the theater. It was quite entertaining. I will admit that I am torn between Edward and Jasper. No, I am not 17. Yes, I feel a little cougarish.

8. I will be baking all weekend.

9. My Christmas tree almost killed me. I still have bruises and cuts from putting him in his stand. I think I over-estimated my ability to wrangle a 9 foot tree, but it is up and looks beautiful!

10. Lastly, a serious thought. So much has transpired since last holiday season for all of us. I am really appreciating how precious life is these days and that it is too short not to go after what you want. As long as it is not hurting anyone, do what makes you happy, stop apologizing for what ever happiness you can find in life, and distance yourself from people that don't celebrate your good fortune.

Gratitude part. 4

I am realizing two things:

1. My Flist is not that long
2. Too many people have disappeared!

Jorie:

You are a fuuny, funny woman. I think it was your witty nature and ability to make a fool of yourself that first made me like you. Over the course of the last few years, you have become the one online person that I speak to the most. I find that interesting as you are only one of a few that I have not met in person.

I think the thing I admire about you most is your generosity. I am continuously impressed by your ability to give to others. Your online craft charity has donated close to 5,000 items. That is an amazing achievement!

I appreciate your humor, intelligence, your ability to listen, and your friendship. I am glad that you are in the world!

“If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? And if not now, when?”

insight or insult?

So my Wii fit just told me I was "unbalanced."

It is only referring to my physical fitness, right!?!

an IM lesson for us all :)

IMing whilst working is a good idea -- do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

Why?

Because you are able to mine the resources of your friends. I just did this and Jorie saved me. She had a site that gave me all the info I needed to know to help out one of my kidlets. Woot! Gotta love having a friend that is an online resource master!

So the next time someone criticizes you for chatting on the clock, correct them. You are not socializing, you are networking/dialoging with references and resources/communicating with an allied professional.

That is all!

ETA: Speaker has just been supremely helpful with yet another topic. See, it is wonderful and a time-saver to have such brilliant people as friends!

So smitten is she ....

I realize that most of you are reeling from a weekend in LA, but I thought I would update the flist on non-LW events :D

I truly had the most crazy/busy weekend! The list with details to follow:

1. Dinner at Le Colonial with Alec on Friday

2. Post-dinner fun with Stephen (more on that behind the cut)

3. 2 birthday parties

4. 1 baseball game

5. 20 holes of Putt-putt (I received 2 bonus putts - which is truly a sad statement on the world of miniature golf. I was dreadful as I could barely stand, much less hit the damn ball through the obstacles and into the hole).

Naughtiness behind the cut ....

More detail than that will be reserved for IM. I hope everyone has made it home safely :)

ok ... one more ... for fun ...

... though I don't consider myself paranoid ...

Your Personality Is Like Cocaine

You're dynamic, brilliant, and alluring to those who don't know you.
Hyper and full of energy, you're usually the last one to leave a party.
Sometimes your sharp mind gets the better of you... you're a bit paranoid!

a quick hello to all on LJ

I returned home on Sunday night and have been drowning in catch-up work! I guess that is what happens when you are away from all forms of communication for 11 days -- not that Atlanta is a non-communicative city, rather, I was too damn busy to check email, cell phone, or anything else. I have tried to read as much as I could on LJ to catch-up. Seems that everyone had a nice and safe Thanksgiving and that some of you are freezing your arses off due to lots of cold weather!!!

I have some hilarious stories to share and hope to post something soon.

Smooches to everyone!!!

Of course .... this horoscope could not be more wrong.... *weg*
